Varsity Class
The Varsity Class has been a part of Christian Education at Gay Street Church since 1927. While most of the current members will not see their 60th birthday again, they represent much more than tradition.
They are actively involved in seeking to know the scriptures and how God’s word applies to every aspect of life today. Each week, they read a lesson in preparation for discussion on Sunday, and they share their thoughts and questions during that meeting. It doesn’t end there. A member directory is compiled every year so members can easily keep track of one another. Calls, correspondence, and visits are a continuing activity, especially for shut-ins or members who may be ill or confined.

New Ministry ~ J.O.Y. (Just Older Youth)

Our ministry here at Gay Street is one of connection -- one of reaching out --- one of fellowship --- so in that context -- it appears that a new ministry may have been birthed with the start of J.O.Y. -- Just Older Youth!!! This group is open to a wide age range of "older youth" --- from 20's to 90's!!! Starting in the Fall of 2011 we have traveled to: Ye Olde Mill & Legend Hills Orchard in Utica, Longaberger Village outside Newark, The Annin Flag Company in Roscoe Village, Coshocton, Nashville, Ohio to see Christmas lights and the Nashville UM Church, The Carousel in Mansfield, Ohio and to area restaurants. New Beginnings
A class for new members is held twice a year. The purpose of the class is to learn about Methodism, the United Methodist Church, what we believe, what we stand for, what it means to be a member of the United Methodist Church, discerning our spiritual gifts, and determining how to use your gifts at Gay Street United Methodist Church. Women's Ministries
United Methodist Women
The United Methodist Women is a group of women in the church who are organized for mission. The local unit relates directly to the district and conference organization of United Methodist Women and to the Women's Division of the General Board of Global Ministries.
Programs for the unit and the circles (subgroups) encompass mission, education, spiritual growth, and social action. Fund raising projects are options. Click here to connect to the East Ohio Conference UMW webpage.
